Genocide is a term defined by Article 2 of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (CPPCG) as "any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life, calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; and forcibly transferring children of the group to another group."

genocide comes from the suffix -side which involves the killing of, suicide=killing yourself homicide-killing someone else pesticide=killing pests regicide=killing royality, etc. The preffix of Geno- means general, therefore genocide means in its root the killing of a general group, but has be defined by the United Nations under a more detailed an dpunishible international crime.

Genocide is one group of people killing another group who is different from them only because of that difference.
The most famous example is the Holocaust of Hitler and Nazi Germany, There Germans killed many groups who were different from German "christians" such as gypsies, homosexuals and most famously, the Jewish people.
Genocide is taking place now,today, in Darfur in Africa. There Arab Muslims know as janjaweed are slaughtering innocent black citizens . So far the world is doing nothing about it.

Genocide is basically the systematic killing of a group of people based on a certain aspect such as race. For example... the genocides in Rwanda (based on skin color) and Darfur.

it's the total destruction of a race of people. just like ADOLF HITLER very nearly managed to do to the JEWS by exterminating 6 million of them during the SECOND WORLD WAR 1939 / 1945
