John Mellencamp is from , Bloomington, Indiana. So he IS loyal
to his hometown roots. And he wrote,"Blood on the Scarecrow",
to help farmers keep their land, instead of Government take
overs. Farmers were in jeopardy of losing their land, due to
various reasons. So he is very patriotic. I don't agree with you.
If you want to know what he was thinking: THAT is what he was
thinking.

Its not exactly the 80's anymore. A persons gotta live, Im sure Chevy execs paid him well for that tune to use for Chevy trucks. While your at it ask yourself why Bon Jovi is outright country now.
