From experience, the pediatrician said it is normal for a formula fed baby to go once every 2or 3 days. He said some babies go only once a week. It's not how often they go, but it's the consistency of the poo when they do go. If it is hard, or like pellets, then the baby is constipated. Try adding an ounce of prune juice to an ounce of water 2 times a day until things start moving. Or, if your baby doesn't like the taste of prune juice, try adding an ounce of prune juice into the bottle with the water before you add the powder formula. Or, try apple juice if prune juice is not aggreeing with your baby. Another thing that helps my baby stay regular (may be an old wives tale) is to add a bit of clear Karo Syrup to every bottle once your baby starts going again. She goes at least once a day or every other day. Just a very small amount though...it may sound crazy but it works! And if all else fails, buy some Fleet brand child size glycerin suppositories and use 1/4 of it. It should usually work within an hour. You can get this at wal-mart or walgreens. If none of these things work, then seriously go to the pediatrician!

If you are feeding your baby formula then they might be getting constipated. It is normal for an eight week old baby to poop once or twice a day. Breastfed babies usually poop with every diaper change. Make sure you are mixing the formula correctly because he may not be getting enough water. I would call the pediatician and make them aware of the question you are having.

Yes. Are you breastfeeding or formula. That can make a difference. Formula makes a babies stolls harder and pass less often thn a breastfed baby.

Unfourtunately it can be. Watch his schedule and keep in mind the amount he is passing and how much does he struggle to get it out. You can help by giving more water, encouraging prune juice but there isnt much you can do.
