To be a doctor you have to get a bachelor's degree, which usually takes about 4 years. Then you go to medical school and that is also 4 years. Residency depends on where you go, but generally it is another 4 years for anesthesia.
If you want to be a nurse anesthetist, then you have to finish nursing school (I'm not sure how long that takes). Then I think that you have to be a nurse for a year before you can begin to work on the anesthesia speciality.
