well statistically it is cheaper and less of a burden on the taxpayer to NOT impose the death penalty, what with the court costs and countless appeals. some think it is wrong to kill anyone regardless of circumstances and that killing a person is resorting to a shameful act comparable to the criminal. I've also heard that we are too advanced of a culture to have to resort to the death penalty as it is barbaric. However can we honestly ask a victim's family to feel the same way? It's easy to say you oppose the death penalty if you've never lost someone close

If it is clear that we could never in good conscience return the criminal to society, and if the crime is first degree murder or killing a police officer, I support the death penalty.

Yes, in some cases it is more expensive than life in prison. But that should not have to be the case. I'll bet that Texas is working on making it more efficient.

I am in favor of the death penalty for murder, rape, and kidnapping because it is a true measure of how serious we consider these crimes to be. Therefore, it is the RIGHT response.

A life sentence says that we are not all that concerned about these crimes. Many times, "lifers" can get paroled. That's waay to lenient, and it puts people at risk.

I think in some cases the death penalty is warranted. If someone has murdered or brutally raped anyone especially if the victim is a child,I don't think it would be wrong to put them to death.

The best argument for the death penalty is that it eliminates the possibility of a repeat offender.

The death penalalty is just legalized revenge. Life in prison is a greater torment.
