Humans, aren't all the same. But one thing they are similar in is fear. Fear results in so many reactions. One reason is because they have ended in a situation with bugs in a deadly way. An other is because bugs, as you've clearly said (disgusting), have a reputation of being gross, causing the human to react in bugs in an unwilling way (which means they are scared, etc)
humans are afraid of bugs from the reason that bugs are different from the current human living. The wealthy and the average (who don't live on the streets) are so used to the culture of comfortable living, like in a shelter, where no insects to get near them, that when they approach this they are scared.
Another is because, they cannot tell the difference between poisonous and not harmful bugs, so they would rather be on the safe side and not deal with it at al.

I'm not scared of most bugs, but there are a few spiders I don't care to sleep with. Roaches are just gross and I hate them!

I am not afraid of them but I don't want them crawling on me. That goes for humans too since you added that. Both need to be invited.

I have no idea but I'm terrified of cockroaches. I can't help it, they move too fast and they look disgusting.

my oldest sister is scared of bugs
but for the life of me i can't understand why she is afraid of bugs but has 2 albino pythons and to pitbull dogs
but herass can't kill a spider, bee,wasp,roach,etc.

im disgusted by roaches, but im afraid of flying insects b/c i was attacked by lots of bees when i was younger and i know its weird but im afraid of ants b/c i was covered from head to toe with army ants growing up, phobias they suck

Spiders -they're creepy,crawly and they come down out of nowhere .yuck! Don't even start me on centipedes.
