That is crazy. I have a friend who gets large ovarian cysts(although by no means that large) and she is 19. She has been hospitalized SEVERAL times because they ruptured... I would make sure that you sit down with the doctors before the op and have them tell you face to face what they know u can expect and what aspects they are unsure of! I will be praying for her!! The real question is why she got them in the first place... be sure after she gets it removed to try to find some form of prevention so it doesnt continue to happen, as in my friends case!!

I had a very large ovarian cyst removed when I was 23 yrs old (that was 20 years ago). Mine wasn't quite as big as your daughter's, but they did have to cut me vertically as opposed to horizontally. They also removed an ovary and fallopian tube. I wasn't pregnant, so I'm sure things are a bit more risky for your daughter. My cyst turned out to be pre-cancerous, but with keeping up with all of my follow-up visits, yearly pap smears and other doctor recommended tests (CA-125 and ultra sounds) throughout the years I have managed to stay cancer free.

I don't know why your doctors aren't telling you much. It is your right to know these things. I would demand to find out before your daughter goes under the knife. Best wishes fr your daughter. I will keep her and her unborn baby in my thoughts and prayers.

A friend of mine had a few cysts removed and she said they were the size of grapefruits, but they removed them immediately after the birth of her baby, so I don't know the risk for your daughter and her pregnancy. But she did fine and the baby is now a healthy 12 year old girl. I would definitely talk to her doctor and ask lots of questions.
