It depends on the severity of the injury. Have you been to a doctor who specialises in muscular problems? There is also the possibility that you have damaged the ligaments in your hand and this is affecting the mobility of your hand. The ligaments help to control the directions in which the bones are capable of moving, a change in the movement pattern of the bones in your hand could indicate that you have damaged the ligaments.
I would definately reccomend not doing pushups. Being capable of doing pushups does not mean that you should be doing them if you feel pain. This could be causing your body to heal a lot slower than it otherwise would. Also if you have hurt it bad enough it could be an injury you carry for life.

But above all, go see a muscle specialist. If the bone doctors are all saying the same thing but there is not an improvement in your condition then it is probably a good idea to seek a different kind of doctors opinion.

It sounds like the muscles are severly strained. You do not need to aggravate the injury anymore. Make sure to ice and heat. Meaning put ice or ice pack on it and switch up with heat for a couple times a day. This will help relieve the inflammation. You need to do simple stretches to allow the muscles to repair and gain strength again. If you continue to do push-ups it will never repair. You said the bone seems to be sticking out it may possible be a fracture if you keep it wrapped w/out movement it may possible improve. If not go back to a diff. doctor and do not say anything about the other prognoises. B/c he may just tell you the same thing. You also want to gently massage the areas with some cold cream such as BenGay, biofreeze, etc. Do it gently and palpate by putting pressure to the area and go up and down on the area. good luck!

... first off, you cannot find professional help HERE, okay? If this were really important to you, you'd pay the money to see someone. I recommend you NOT exert yourself. If it's painful, then don't make it worse by punishing your injury. I think you need to find some type of sports rehab specialist to help you out. And whatever you do, do NOT return to doing sports until you are 100%. Kurt Angle returned to wrestling despite the fact that his neck didn't heal completely, and he's suffering the pain and consequences. Don't do that to yourself.
What you need is to stretch... that's most likely the reason you f*cked yourself up so badly. It doesn't matter how long you've played a sport... you NEED to stretch properly and warm up. I hope you know that.

It sounds like you should try to stop using that hand for a couple months to let it heal. After ten months it hasn't changed then you need to try some more drastic measures. My ankle wasn't getting any better after 6 months but after it was in a cast all summer followed by gentle exercises the strength is slowly coming back. I still use a cane but less and less each week.

probably not a bone sticking out of your hand, but a ligament or muscle. Were you in physical or occupational therapy for this injury? I'd consult a hand specialist.

keep going to different doctors ,even if they say there is nothing wrong, because there are new injuries doctors have no answer for yet or they just haven't looked hard enough to find the correct diagnosis..

ask your doctor for a referral to go see a physical therapist... they are specialists and can tell you whats going on with your injuries better than some generic doctor.

I have injuries from my teen years that, 30 years later, still give me pain. I would hope you don't have one of those but only the doctor can tell you if it's healed properly and, possibly, you'll still have pain after it's healed.
