Does anyone have a log home or know a lot about them? I was wondering if they are hard to maintain, or what? Did you treat yours every few years, and was it expensive? Comments?

A truly outdated and wasteful use of good timber. The real problem is not having a wall cavity to insulate or run wires and pipes through. Paint looks really cheesy on log houses, and treating all those exterior surfaces with a thompsons-like product can be a real pain, especially on the second floor. I lived in a log house for 5 years and now reside in a warm, bright and modern home. I'll never go back.

it depends on your envoirment, here in Kansas city you will need to treat the wood every 10 years or so. If you live in a low humidity you can have it last a lot longer with problem.
