False. And I disagree wit ha previous answer to this question. Southerners generally disapproved of high tariffs because it reduced the amount of Southern agricultural products, usually cotton, that Europeans could afford to buy.

Think about it this way: I have a $20 and I want to take my wife to the Saturday matinee. I know the matinee usually costs $5 per ticket. That means that I still have enough to buy a big popcorn ($4) and a big soda ($5) for us to share.

But what happens if I get to the theatre and the ticket taker tells me they have just raised prices to $6 per ticket? Do I still have enough to buy the coke and popcorn that I wanted? No, I have to decide which of the two I want more.

Europeans were having to make the same kind of choice each time American tariffs were raised and that's why Southerners didn't like them.

False. Manufactured goods were made mostly in the north, and thus northerners were the ones who supported a protective tariff. Southerners supported light tariffs or no tariffs at all because they wanted to be able to buy cheap imported goods, instead of higher-priced northern-made alternatives. The North supported high tariffs because it was the manufacturing part of the United States. The South did not want tariffs because its agricultural economy was dependent in part upon the availability of cheap (often foreign-made) manufactured goods.

there have been alot of fake issues in that. Lincoln substitute into no longer a white supremacist, the southern states threatened to secede because of the fact he substitute into working a platform on abolishing slavery. Segregation substitute into something that probable could have occurred, however the north did a surprisingly stable job at no longer doing that. The Emancipation Proclamation declared all slaves interior the Confederacy "continuously loose" so he effectively wiped out seventy 5% of slavery precise there. even if, maximum individuals do have self belief that slavery substitute into the only and/or best rationalization why the Civil conflict substitute into fought, yet extremely it substitute into to maintain the Union ("a house divided upon itself won't be able to stand"). The Union substitute into very industrialized and thoroughly based on the vegetation picked by utilising the plantation slaves so the industries could make clothing and stuff. The Union made some threats, have been given a sprint too far into accomplice land, and that's while the Civil conflict began. The Confederates seceding effectively took away the components the Union's economic gadget mandatory. BQ- i think of they are going to get 12
