Give it away for the good of the world!

I would not only give it away but I would find a way for mass dispersment all over the world at the same time so that the drug companies aren't able to put a stop to it once someone finds out I had the cure. Too many people die from not only the diseases such as HIV but the medications that are "supposed" to suppress it (but wind up causing more damage than good). Drug companies worry so much about making money on "treatment" instead of looking at the bigger picture. What good is killing the virus if in the process you kill the body it is infecting? A true Cure would destroy the HIV virus but do no harm to the rest of the body.

The person who comes up with a cure for a horrible disease such as HIV should be rewarded. He/she should be set up for life with a nice income so they'll never have to work again. It's only fair. That would be reward enough for me. I don't see any reason to try and make Bills Gates kind of money from it. So to answer your question. Yes everyone may have it for free. But I have my needs too. You could sell it on the honor system. If you have money to donate to the manufacturing of the drug then do so. If not the medication would be free. I think there would be plenty of donations to keep the operation moving.

I would give it away. There are some people with HIV/AIDS who only got it through being given blood products already infected and so therefore they don't deserve to be labelled and hung out to dry. Some have had this disease from birth and they too don't deserve this label. HIV/AIDS is such a terrible disease that I couldn't watch anyone die from it no matter how they got it. I don't care about lining my own pockets because I care more about human life.

i really dont know, i would like to think i would give it away for the good of the world, but i dont think it is realistic to think that anyone would be that altruisitc. noone has ever given away a cure for anything else free, far from it, ususally the more effective it is the more expensive it is. i think it would be more realistic to say that i would make sure it was accessible to everyone who needed it at a reasonable price. you forget that even if you have a cure you still have to produce it and once you hand the formula over to the large drug companies......well need i finish that sentence?

I would give it away for the good of the world, the sooner a cure is found the better.

Much as one would like to be benefactor to the world in that regard, it would be somewhat foolish to simply give the cure away, since countless others would become rich off of you and your discovery. No drug manufacturer is going to manufacture your drug and give it to others for free. By giving away the discovery, you would probably be doing more to make the drug expensive for others, simply because your clout concerning how and at what price the drug would be made available would thus be nonexistent. Retain your rights, retain your clout, and work from a position of power and control to get governments to work out cheap alternatives to drug company control of manufacturing and distibution. Each nation could thus at your insistance subsidise and perhaps even oversee production of the drug within its own borders, thus guaranteeing free treatment to sufferers. Thereafter, you could donate your millions to charity.

before I'd give it away,,,they need to stop the spreading of the HIV virus,,,,knowing how HIV is killing people,,it doesn't seem to stop people with the desease from having un-protected sex and they keep spreading it,,,,,,,,,if a person had HIV and they knew their was a cure they would even be more lest likely to stop having un-protected sex and sharing drugs/needles,so no I would not give it away untill action was started to stop the spreading of HIV,, there have been several case's in the courts of people being charged with knowingly spreading the desease(they should be shot!)

I would not sell it! What if some people with HIV can't afford to buy a cure?

2006-11-19 11:40:54 · answer #10 · answered by Anonymous · 1 0

I could not in all good conscience sell it because there are so many people still suffering especially in Africa with the illness. The only way that I would sell it is to make sure that it would be available to all people not just the ones who can afford to pay for it.
