Are there Any Exchange Student Programs Out There For U.S Kids? Because I was planning to send my 13-year-old daughter to one, since I want her to get a taste of the world and the education here in my town isn't up to mark. And the private school's aren't too good here. I'm afraid of searching the web, because all the unesscary fradulent spam and crap will come up instead.

Most programs require a minimum age - 16 is the standard. However, you may be able to find some that do allow younger students to go abroad. Here is a list of reputable study abroad agencies: http://www.macquil.com/abroad.php
ps,- I've had experience with AFS and EF and they have been doing this for over 40 years and they really take care of their students.

Like the other person said, most programs have a higher age limit. And I think 13 might be kind of young to send your kid away from home; I'm not sure she'd have the emotional maturity to deal with it (because it's not all easy and fun). I'm a 17-year-old exchange student in Chile with AFS. http://www.usa.afs.org (request that they send you a catalogue!) AFS has been good to me and is very, very reputable... I've sometimes heard bad things about other programs like EF, Rotary, and Youth For Understanding, but not about AFS. But I recommend looking into your options. I also definitely recommend that the exchange be one where you go live with a host family, as the support is important. I think a cultural exchange is a great idea; I know it's been an amazing experience for me. Best of luck!!! Let me know if there's more you'd like to know.
