A podcast as a digital recording of a radio broadcast or similar program, made available on the Internet for downloading to a personal audio player, which is a pretty good definition. Some people have criticized the term podcast as giving Apple computer too much credit and have tried to suggest alternative terms like blog casting or audio blogging. Those just don't roll off the tongue like podcasting does. The word podcast itself is a combination of the words broadcast and iPod. Both the terms, broadcast and iPod, are a little misleading because you don't need an iPod or any portable music player to listen to a podcast and a podcast itself is not broadcast at all, at least not in the traditional sense of it going out over radio waves.
