Your mail program, if you left it running, should tell you when a new e-mail arrives. Else, you can run mail monitor type programs.

If you download yahoo mail, and then the yahoo tool bar, it will show a star beside the mail envelope indicating new mail.

If you have yahoo mail you can download messenger and configure it to alert you when you have mail! At one point you could also configure AOL, look into options! Peace!

it depends on your e.mail program.
if you have outlook express - you can see an envelop on the bar.
also - some toolbar or special external softwares inform you.
gmail - the same (google notifier).
but best to search with search engine "notifier" -
and see what is best for you.
some are good for pop3 (like outlook express)
and about webmail - see what they suggest.
to me - toolbars are good enough.
