Get him out NOW! They are a rip-off and get very little business for their clients, while making their clients pay a ton for "classes." A friend of mine was scammed into using them. She never got a job, and was run into great debt by them.

A good rule of thumb is to never trust a place that requires your son to take classes from them in order to try to get him work. The best way to get him into acting is to enroll him in private acting classes (look in your phone book) and have him audition for community and children's theatre productions.

Please don't send your son there. My 5 year old son was accepted too, and was told he is special. This was on Nov 8, 2006 when we went in for the seminar. We gave our information and they faxed back an agenda to me Nov 9th,2006 with my Master Card info to sign & fax back Nov 10/06. I actually left it alone becasue we were no longer interested. When I looked at my Mastercard statment Nov.22/06, I noticed that they JRP's withdraw the $1950 canadian without my authorization on Nov.17th, 2006. I called them about, because i just found out today (Nov.22/06). They still have not called me back. I will be calling Mastercard for their help tomorrow. The name of the main sales rep is "Mimi". She's a smooth talker. She almost got me. Well I guess she did for now because they have my $1950. Hopefully not for long. Please pass the word along.
As i did research. I was told no actualy reputable agency advertises. We shouldn't fall for advertising companuies like JRP as i did on the radio.

Scam alert!
John Robert Powers

John Robert Powers has not been a reputable modeling agency since the 1960s. It is a scam that takes money from uninformed parents and “starry-eyed” girls with little potential to work as a high-fashion model. JRP is not a school to study acting or modeling. JRP will gladly separate a parent from their money to please their child.

JRP is not a school one can put on an acting resume. Call the community colleges and professional theaters in your city and ask for recommendations on acting teachers and acting schools. For Modeling, call the major department stores in your city (Neiman-Marcus, Saks, Macy’s, etc.) and ask for the names of the best modeling schools in your city.

When a model makes money in the industry, the agency will take their money “from the top” that they shelled out on her training.

The modeling and fashion industry is primarily in New York, Paris and Milan. The fashion designers live and work in New York City. The fashion magazines are written, edited and published in New York City. Some TV and movie studios are in NYC as are publicists, top hair stylists, talent agents, producers and news media. Your child will not be acting or modeling. If there is no modeling industry where you live, where did JRP tell you your child would work? Always ask this question of a modeling agency.

The modeling industry is based in New York City. This is where the magazines are published, the fashion designers work and live, the photographers, the fashion stylists, motion picture companies and where television corporations are based.

If she/he has the passion, you have be in New York City. The legitimate modeling agencies are in New York City, they DO NOT charge the prospective model to "learn to model." The agencies teach them for free, because they take their money after the model starts to work and brings in money to the agency.

More than likely, your city, will have modeling schools, rather than modeling agencies, as NYC is where the fashion modeling industry is located, not in middle-America!

More than likely you will find "scam" modeling school that charge $3,000.00 for nothing of value to your child. There is no acting/modeling industry in your city! It's in NYC.

Are major motion pictures shot in the city where you live? Are major magazines published in the city where you live? Models are photographed for magazines, newspapers, book covers, etc. If your city does not support those industries, it is money down the drain that you would give to JRP. JRP is “surviving”on the former grand reputation of by Mr. Powers. Contact the: Better Business Bureau: to see if there is a complaint about them, in the city where you live: bbb.org.

Try to get a refund. Always check with bbb.org before you enroll someone in a modeling or acting school.
