that's a myth both my sisters quit smoking when they were pregnant and their babies didn't die....it's better for the baby...smoking while pregnant can cause low birth weight preterm labor and other harmful effects to the baby even your doctor will suggest a smoker quit while pregnant....and second hand smoke is just as harmful...even if u dont smoke

Well if you are smoking i assume your dr knows about this.. since they always ask if you have smoked or if you are a smoker... same with drinking... anyways.. just because 1 women smoked during pregnancy and her baby came out fine doesnt meen your baby will (i know it sounds kinda rude but thats the plain truth)... also just because a baby is born healthy doesnt meen he/she wont be effected by it in the long run... I really really dont think you should smoke while pregnant... when i got pregnant i was a smoker but i quit once i found out i was pregnant and i havent smoked a ciggerette since the day i quit and it has been almost 4 years now... so please just try and quit smoking.. and talk to your dr about this.. good luck

It's not good to smoke or be around a smoker while pregnant. But-saying that-let me tell you what my OBGYN told me when I first became pregnant. She said to cut 1/2 back--time myself so I knew how much I was smoking, but yes, it can be very harmful and even cause a misscarriage if you suddenly stop. Try cutting back, then if you can stop altogether--but don't stop cold turkey all at once. Not good.

never heard of the baby dying from a mother quitting smoking while pregnant. My mum still smoked when she was pregnant with me. I have messed up lungs and circulation and stuff so yeah i guess its bad. and second hand smoke is worse than it first hand, because first hand smoking has the filter, second hand doesn't.

Oh my gosh NO it's not true. Smoking can cause so many health problems in a baby, and a woman should quit smoking when she's pregnant and/or breastfeeding.

If it happens only once then it's ok but not all the time.
Passive or active smoking is bad news for everyone especially for a forming human baby. For the sake of your baby and your own health, don't do it.

can tell you are young...but quitting is the best for baby and mother. As for a baby dying maybe after birth because of the complications of under weight and under developed.

NEVER HEARD OF A FETUS DYING BECAUSE THE MOTHER STOPPED SMOKING - PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM ALL SMOKERS IF POSSIBLE.

thats retarded. my friend smoked while she was pregnant and when people would stare at her, she'd scream DON'T JUDGE ME!!!!!!!! i was embarassed to be seen with her. well, her baby was hospitalized when it came out premature because her little lungs collapsed. i felt so sorry for her. but eventually she made it through.

and PS, i went from a pack a day to NONE cold turkey, and managed healthy 6 pound twins.
