Microsoft windows defender is useless - gods know why they call it defender - all it does is give you a force scene of security - get it of your computer - free up a bit more of your hard drive or find a better program, there are not many out there that are this bad.

Windows Defender is a good FREE spyware program by microsoft, it is actually quite nice, as it scans your entire computer in 7-20 depending on how many files you have. I have found that it finds MORE than spybot Search and destry, my other anti spy program. I highly recommend it for anyone. i would also like to add that it is Very easy to set up, and use and it is a pleasure to look at visually.
I also recommend these fine free products:
Zone Labs ZonAlarm FireWall (free) this is a very complex firewall that keeps hackers and spam away from you. works GREAT
AVG anti virus FREE edition (free) this is a nice virus scanner and has helped me alot, a GREAT FREE alternative to Norton and it works just as well.

think about it...microsoft has taken over the pc world.....they bought out firefox because it was a better browser......yes...microsoft windows defender is a real nice free spyware program that offers real time protection....there are a few that is better...but not too many
if u do not want to pay for a free spyware program..i would get this or spyware terminator from download.com

The settings seem to be strange, a lot of programs do not run together with windows defender (just google for it). I had to uninstall it again, to get some ordinary presentation running.

it is free but it's not that good. i say that because it is slow,and takes up about 10 mb of ram. i know a better anti spyware , it's called AVG , the free edition is free.

I think it's good. It doesn't do as much as I would expect it to do. But at least it still work and it's free. I say that it's good to download.

Yeah..its not a bad program and yes it is free. I have it on my computer.
