BUT neither of your parents were?
Where were they born?

Example = my mom was born on a ship, coming here from Europe.
My dad was born in Scotland . . . they became citizens, married after the war, and had me in CA - I am first generation here.

I was born in the US, as were my parents, and there parents.

In fact, I'm the fourth generation born in California (if you follow the right branches of the family tree).

My mother's mother's father came here from Europe -- not sure whether her mother was born here or was first generation (French).

My father's father's mother and father came here (he was Swiss, she was Irish).

My father's mother's mother was born in California. I believe both of her parents were born in the US.

BTW, if this question gets removed for "chatting" (which I hope it doesn't), it might scrape through in the Polls & Surveys category.

It's all different for me. It depends which grandparent you look at.

on my father's side:
11th generation (from England)
4th generation (from Ireland/Scotland)
3rd generation (from Italy)

on my mother's side:
3rd generation (from Poland)
3rd and 4th generation (from Slovakia/Austria-Hungary)
