Much depends on what the dream was about, how much sense it made and whether or not there is something within your life currently that would dictate this dream taking place at the time.

Some believe dreams are always the opposite whereas others believe they are simply your psyche acting out issues you are holding within. A lot has to do with what the dream portrayed and then discovery of possible meaning goes from there. Rarely when one dreams of a death, does it mean an actual impending death but more probably of what might be considered as a "death", i.e. loss of a pet, of an ideal, a job, a favourite object, etc., but take the instance of the man who drempt that the Grim Reaper visited him on more than one occasion and foretold the fact that the man wouldn't live to see his 51st birthday. The man died 2 months after his 50th birthday and only a few months after having the dream in which he was told this...you could say the dream foretold the happening of a future real life event.

You have to take a look at what is going on in your life before you try or go ahead and read things into dreams. You could drive yourself crazy if you lead yourself to believe all dreams mean something...all dreams don't. We need dreams (deep sleep) in order to obtain restorative rest therefore not all dreams are of any value whatsoever other than they are informing you that you have obtained a state of deep sleep.

Purchase a book if you wish on the meaning of dreams, there are many out there...10,000 Dreams is one, but be prepared to take the sensical approach...all dreams are not interpretations of life or what is about to be so if you should have a "bad" dream reading the meaning towards some kind of disaster in your life, is only causing you to worry about something you simply may never experience.

As for your dreams? Unless you had made your dream known here, there isn't much anyone will be able to tell you. I've had enough dreams foretell things for me that I tend to have learned which dreams to pay attention to and which dreams not to bother with. BTw, the man who drempt about the Grim Reaper? He was my father...

Good luck with this and investigate wisely and with common sense.

Unfortunately, dreams are more complicated than that, you might have 5 different dreams in a week or so and all of them are about the same issue, but they're very different dreams. If you seriously want to know about your dreams you need to look into, get books on ebay about it or something, dream dictionaries are helpful, but it's best not to rely on them. It's best to analyze the dream and then get meaning later as that will confirm not direct your thinking on the dream.
Sometimes just dreaming will help you to resolve issues in your waking life, but if you're being stubborn that's when you start getting the scary dreams, like things chasing you etc. If that happens, even with out analyzing the dream you can look at your issues in your waking life and figure out what you might be avoiding/denying.

No.. it does not mean the opposite of what you are dreaming....

Dreams is defined in Webster's Dictionary as a "sequence of sensations, images, thoughts, etc., passing through a sleeping person's mind" . Dreams have been a topic of study dating back to 4000 B.C. One may say that dreams have been around as long as the first civilization came to be and are just a normal part of human existence.

In our dreams, we can go anywhere, we can be anybody, and we can do anything. When we dream, we are like passengers on a moving train, unable to control our actions and choose surroundings. We let our mind take over. Sometimes, dreams

There are different theories about what dreams mean, the one I sometimes relate to is that dreams are our way of solving our problems subconsciously. This happens when I'm worried about something, I usually dream about it and experience how it would happen...not always pleasant though.
