Give her a written , telling her how long she has to move out. You can change the locks when she's gone. If she is not on the lease and she doesn't pay for anything. Then there is nothing that she can do. Police can't even do anything. Just be sure to give her her stuff back.
Good Luck!

If she's not on the lease (and your landlord is aware of her presence) you can kick her out. Be aware if your lease does not allow roomates you could also be kicked out by the landlord so I'd get her out. You cannot just leave her stuff on the sidewalk however. You should ask you landlord to change the locks (or ask if you can) and then not let her in without an appointment to get her stuff. Check with a lawyer so you don't run into legal problems.

She's not on the lease, so you can't 'evict' her really, but you can certainly call the local authorities and have them escort her from the premises any time you wish. I'm sure the police would be happy to tell her it's time to go. It's sad that it had to come to that, but right now, she's just using you for a free place to stay and depending on you being too nice to force the situation and make her get out.

I was in a situation similar to this, and I talked to the police about it and was told even though his name was not on the lease or rental agreement he did live there and I couldn't put his stuff out the door nor could I change the locks on the door and lock him out. I was told that I had to either go to the landlord and have them put him out or get a restraining order put on him to get him out. Oh and the same goes for her too, she can't do that to you either. Bad part is the fact that she has almost as much rights living there as you do and she is not even on the lease. And also, if you was to move out, she would have to move out too UNLESS she wanted to put up a deposit on the apartment and fill out a rental agreement with the landlord.

Lots of people gave you good advice; written notice, police, putting her stuff in the hall.
What about, figure out where you went wrong to the point she's not your gf anymore, prince charming? If she's in a bad spot financially, how can you put her out like that? The holidays are coming, are you sure you want to do this now? Women are easy to smooth over. Just be nice and try to remember why you moved in together. I would try to fix it before I did anything drastic, as suggested here.

If she is not on the lease, doesn't pay rent or utilities, ask your landlord about it. He/she may be able to help you to get her out. You or your landlord or both may have to file eviction notices to get her to move. Start calling to see what your options are.

if she has ever received mail there, then she is a legal resident. you have to go through the eviction process and give her 30 days. If she doesn't leave by then, then the sheriff has to come out and physically remove her.

Give her a written amount of time to get her stuff out, say 4 days. Then change the locks.
