Most people wait until the day after Thanksgiving to do it. I don't like seeing them up before then either. Some people put them up earlier because they have some nice weather to do it in and then don't turn them on until after Thanksgiving.

I believe it is a personal preference. However, With a little bit of thought I was thinking about the 12 days of Christmas may be sometime between 10Th and the 15th of December. If you live in a cold climate I can see putting outside decorations up early but that does not mean you have to turn them on. When my parents were younger the tree went up after they went to bed on Christmas eve and came down the day after!

People make their own choice. I prefer to start decorating on Dec 1st so that it will last longer. If I have a real tree, I usually buy and decorate it by the 15th otherwise it drys out too much and may cause a fire. Many people don't even buy a tree until Christmas Eve. (maybe because it costs less????)

between New Year's Day and Thanksgiving would be the time NOT to put up your Christmas decorations- just put 'em up on the first of the month.

There are no guide lines as to when to put up your Christmas decorations. I believe it's up to individuals but not too early as you could spoilt the Christmas spirit. I think 1st of December would be nice as the mood of Christmas is there for a month.
Merry Christmas!
I found a very unique Christmas tree toppers and gifts site at http://perfect-gifts4all.blogspot.com/

Christmas decorations shouldn't be put up until in my opinion December 3rd, or in extreme cases December 1st. Thanksgiving night is NOT the time to put up the lights, people!

Its never too early to get in the spirit, ok, maybe summer is too early. But many people get excited around the holidays and just want to express that. Within two months of the holiday is acceptable, but no one should become perturbed if decorations are put up too early by their standards...its not hurting anyone!

Well if you ask Wal Mart they seem to put out Christmas decorations at the same time as Halloween. So around Sept 30th or so. For me on the other hand Dec. 1st is when I like to start.

August, Sept, October is way too early and especially anything before August. I put my tree up on Thanksgiving day.
