when i asked her why she went and made other plans she said that she though that i would want a "date nite" with my husband.

first off, she never even asked me what i wanted to do. second, i have been married for 3 years!!! i am over the whole date nite thing... we do that all the time! i wanted to spend time with all of mine and my husbands friends and obviously my best friend... but seriously.
is she even my best friend? she has been MIA for 4 months now with her new boyfriend... this isn't the first time she has really hurt my feelings in the past 2 months... this feels like the icing on the cake. any ideas how to deal with someone so selfish and inconsiderate or am i overreacting.

serious answers please.

OKAY, so it was ONLY my birthday---the day to celebrate the fact that i was born---BUT, she has sucked as a friend lately, so its the way she has been in general, and then on top of that, the icing on the cake is that she bailed on the b-day too.

I believe you are overacting, it is your birthday and usually only children celebrate them unless it is a 0 birthday, so unless you are turning 20 or 30 it is no big deal, as for your friend she is single and her priorities are some what different than yours, I guess the question how has she been in the areas that really count,

Seriously? It's a BIRTHDAY. Why do so many people make a huge deal of this? It's not like it's a major holiday here. Congratulations, you survived another year!

Were there any predetermined plans? If not, how would she know you wanted to throw a party, or get-together?

I believe you're overreacting. She has her own life and can't be there everytime YOU think she should. Instead of being pissed that she "bailed" on your b-day, be happy for her that she is happy.
