I'm black and I've had a linea negra since I was probably eleven. It's really visible under my naval and a little less noticeable above it. I'm really worried because I found out that it should only appear on pregnant ladies....

There is a normal line on the abdomen between the navel and pubic area called the linea alba. It may not be noticable at all in caucasians, and is most noticable in people with dark skin because of the increased levels of melanin. This line is there all the time. In pregnancy hormonal changes cause this line to darken, along with color changes in the areola. The linea alba is then called the linea negra. Assuming that it has been a while since you were eleven I would say that you probably have nothing to be concerned about. If you are concerned about hormone levels your gyn can check them.

it's just a pigment change in your skin and for your information darker skinned women occasionally have Linea negra naturally and then develop Linea Alba (white line) if they become pregnant
