I found out two days ago that I was pregnant. Today, I have started having cramps and light bleeding. I thought that implantation took place 6-12 days after ovulation. The first day of my last period was Oct. 18. I am past the time of implantation. What's happening?

From my midwife:

Cramping with no bleeding = no problem
Light bleeding with no cramping = no problem
Bleeding AND cramping = Get to the midwife/OB or ER immediately
Bleeding enough to fill a pad/tampon in less than 4 hours, or bleeding for more than 8 hours = Get to the midwife/OB or ER immediately

Go to the hospital. I made the mistake of thinking my bleeding was okay when I could have had a pill early on that would have given me a chance to save my baby. And my own metal well-being. If you are miscarrying there is still a chance but the sooner you get there the better. Some women DO bleed while pregnant right around the time that their period should come.

hmm, keep in mind that most averages are just that, they differ from person to person. i had implantation bleeding when i was 3 weeks preg. If you got a positive on the test, i'd make an appt with your dr to get a blood test to confirm, but the urine tests are usually right. It's rare, but some do get their periods when they're pregnant.

This could be normal--like is it time for your normal period? I spotted and cramped a little the day my period was due, and then it went away. I am 33 weeks pregnant. Call your Dr. if you are truly concerned.

this happened to me with my first baby, you really need to see a doctor, it could be something and nothing but if the bleeding gets any heavier call the doctor right away. I had to rest for a week in bed and everything was o.k. good luck
