No I would not be afraid.
And, no, I wouldn't do anything to nutruelize or disable it.
If they were able to get here either they are very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very advanced and if the netruelizing agent failed or only worked for a period of time they would be very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very mad. That might be the end for the human race. And I really don't want THAT.

Are we talking about a grey man showing up in my room one night. Yea, that would scare the **** out of me, mostly because that version of an alien looks like a deformed person and scary human faces freak me out (like in horror movies).
But it's highly unlikely that aliens look like that.
If I saw a bacterium that was extraterrestial I wouldn't be scarred but berhaps slightly worried about contamination.
If I saw a larger alien, possibly inteligent... well I assume I'd just be flabberghasted. I can't even picture what it would look like since it would likely be very different from anything on our Earth. I'm sure I'd be confused and overwhelmed, probably start babbling or pass out, but I wouldn't be afraid of it unless it seemed to be attacking me or invading me (physically or mentally). Makes me think of the beyond confused and delighted performance Jodie Foster gave as Ellie Arroway in "Contact" when she saw other solar systems and eventually aliens. She did pretty well considering that she was conveying an unheard of reaction to an expirience none of us have had anything close to.

I wouldn't be afraid any race of being that could cross light years of galactic space. They must be sufficiently advanced and beyond violence. The Borg aren't real. I haven't met anything in life that a load of buck shot wont knock hell out of!

Absolutely not! Remember 'Independence Day'?
Will Smith saying "welcome to earth", whilst punching alien.
Seriously though, I would be so insanely curious, that I would probably want to shake its hand / tentacle / appendage. (I don't think all alien life force is out for the decimation of our species).

I would be peaceful and gentle towards it but if it started something I would give him a run for his money because there is ain't no way that they would use me or take me unless it was for my advantage

No, I would not be afraid, because more than likely they would just be here to investigate us and be curious about us.
