It's possible that your baby is really that hungry, but your baby may also be using you as a pacifier. Does your baby take one? At this age you can give her one without having breastfeeding problems. I breastfed my first and am in the middle of feeding my second. I always considered my babies spitting up a lot as a sign of overeating (since there is not any air in the breasts to drink and make spitting up more common like with formula babies). That's when I'd move to the pacifier. My first baby would also nurse and not swallow the milk but let it fall out of the side of her mouth...another sign of just wanting to suck and not eat. If you give a pacifier and they really want to eat they will let you know that the pacifier isn't cutting it.

You should give the baby as much milk as she wants. If she keeps spitting up, you should probably consult your physician. However, public health researchers have consistenly shown that breast milk should not be supplemented with anything (even water) during the first six months of life. After six months, you can start the baby on other things, which is called "complementary feeding."

Invest in a bink. She isn't hungery but pasifing herself with your breast. She sould be eating every 3-4 1/2 hrs.

It's normal for her to want to nurse that often. Breastmilk is so easily digested that they have to eat often. Nurse her as often as she wants. Spitting up is normal. If you think she's doing it way too much you can talk to your pediatrician. Don't give her water or anything besides breastmilk. She'll eat less frequently as time goes on.

I would continue to nurse on demand. Mine fed every two hours or so. You little one is probalby going through spurt and you should just feed him as he needs. Good luck and stick wiht it.

Maybe she is thirsty. You can supplement breast milk with a little (boiled and cooled) water between feeds.
