generally yes. as far as i know, the only part in the philippines that is said to be not safe is a certain portion in mindanao (but its not even that dangerous in those areas as long as you travel there at daytime and just do go too far in the mountain). Just be aware of whats happening around you and be friendly. most filipinos are friendly but there are some (normally) bad guys on the street but its not as serious as what is in the us.
do you travel? try these places... most of these places are safe for foriegners, being major attractions in the country there is an additional security and the people are warm and hospitable...

I might understand if you are concern about theft and snatchers but if your more concern about terrorism, I suggest you check out Mindanao.com website at http://www.mindanao.com
It is managed by an American who has traveled most parts of Mindanao since 1990. He is now residing somewhere Davao. He has an exclusive page dealing with Safety Concerns in Mindanao.
Like any city around the world, Cagayan de Oro City has it share of snatchers or con artists. You just have to use your common sense.
For more info about Cagayan de Oro, check my website at http://www.freewebs.com/cdoguide
Cagayan de Oro is quite safe for both local and foreign tourists. In fact the has been a sudden surge of tourist arrivals in the city. 3 years ago there were only few foreigners roaming around the city. Now you can see them almost everywhere (Koreans, Americans, Europeans, etc..) And besides if it was not really safe in Cagayan de Oro, the city would have not prospered. The city has 4 major malls (Robinsons, SM City, Gaisano and Limketkai-biggest complex in Mindanao) and by next year another mall (Ayala Center) is set to be constructed estimated to cost 2 Billion Pesos.

Probably just typhoid and hepatitis vaccinations.. Nothing else besides that.. Just drink distilled or mineral water all the time.. The water is not dirty but it has contents that he is not used to yet.. He will adjust to it in a day or 2 though if he decides to drink regular tap water... Antibiotics is not necessary and doesn't really do you anything.. You only take that if you already acquired the sickness.. Check with you Center for Disease Control or City Health Office.. They advised me last January to take those 2 vaccinations before going to the Philippines but me and my wife didn't get it.. He doesn't really need it unless he plans on eating food and drinking water from sidewalks (except for fishballs).. He's fine but you can spend that extra $100 to be sure if you like..
