Yes, it says no cooking or barbecuing on the wrapper, but has anybody actually tried it?

The reason why a Duraflame fire log burns so well is because it has a high amount of chemicals in it. These chemicals don't completely break down even when burned in your fireplace and if you cook with it you'll get an unhealthy dose of poisonous chemicals along with your food. It's possible that you may not even feel it if you consume a small enough amount, but it's also possible it could make you very sick depending on your sensitivity to the chemicals and dose you consume. At any rate, I'd sure strongly recommend that you stick with roasting your marshmallows over a real log.

Um.....I just had one two nights ago just toasted over the coals. There was no smoke at the time. I think our society has become too paranoid about these types of things. I do think that actually cooking food when there is a flame could be hazardous however. I will update this if I start to develop tumors.

In a word YES! You can toast marshmallows over any type of flame, even burning horse manure. Can they be eaten after they are toasted?
Yes they can be eaten. However how sick will they make you?
I don't know and I won't try cooking them that way thank you very much.

It says no cooking for a reason. The log probably contains chemicals to keep it burning, and those chemicals will be released in the smoke. While it might not be harmful in small amounts, you definitely don't want to eat something that's been cooked in that kind of smoke.

No! The duraflame log is made up of combustible chemicals that will leach directly into the marshmallow and make you very sick. Please don't attempt to cook with or over anytype of firebrick log.
