Hi there, Acting is all about reacting. Make your reactions believable. You have to have absolute belief in yourself. (After all if you don't believe that you are a particular character how do you expect your audience to believe it?) Have a read of these books - 'Building a Character' and 'An Actor Prepares' by Stanislavski they will prove invaluable to you as an actor. I wish you all the luck in the world!! xx

General questions get general answers. If you have a specific question, then, it's always good to be specific.
Who are the best actors you've seen? Why did they impress you? What's the difference between acting for the stage and acting for the camera.. and between acting for TV and for Feature films? What's block and tape? Why are you asking? As a director? As an actor? As a wannabe?
The best tip is to pay attention to the actors whom you think do a good job. Being a movie star is not acting. Starring in your own music video is not acting. Acting is when you watch someone on the stage or TV or in a film or listen to them on the radio and believe that they are the character. In today's high profile movie star market, we often call the character by the actor's name. Johnny Depp; in Pirates? Demi Moore in Bobby?
When the persona of the actor disappears and you allow yourself to appreciate the character, then that's credible acting. Pay attention and emulate the good qualities of someone who appeals to you.

You remember being depressed--but not the way you've been doing it. First, you need to do physical and mental relaxation exercises to remove all tensions. Then, vividly recall one time when you got depressed. You need to focus on sensory recall--what did you see (in detail), smell, see, taste, feel. Somewhere in that memory is an "emotional trigger", a tiny sensory detail that will bring back that emotion--it might be the sight of a button, the smell of salt, the feel of the carpet on which you stood. If you repeat this exercise three times and get the same emotion by recalling the trigger each time, then it's a good one and you can use it. Now, also observe depressed people (get psychology videos, or ask to observe at a clinic). Take from their postures and expressions and let it inform your physical acting.
