Your question was not why do they try drugs but more why do they get the hooked.
They may try them because that's what you do when you're growing up you experiment in the world that's in front of you. Anything your parents or school told you that you shouldn't do of course means the opposite in a teenager's mind.
There are also confusing things when you're a teenager… drugs are bad but my parents have a whole medicine cabinet of them. TV and print ads bombard us with “useful” drugs. Everyone now uses drugs more than any other time in history.
While America was winning the “war” (and we WON any wars lately) now homemade brews of methamphetamines and other drugs have increased supply. These drugs are incredibly more addictive than anything served up at Woodstock. By the way has anyone seen a hippie lately…. I'm sure they didn't all die…. oh that's right they cut their hair, joined society and became executives of computer companies.
The “hard” drugs of the day especially target areas of the brain designated for pleasure. Unfortunately even sampling these drugs (which some believe won't get them hooked) can lead to addiction. The body then craves these drugs and stopping their use is extremely difficult. It has nothing to do with a weak mind or body. This is a chemistry war that you probably won't win.
It is not also help that the government continues to send mixed messages on drugs. The film Reefer Madness comes to mind as the government tried to get Hollywood to help out with the drug problem. Marijuana was shown as a terrible thing that could lead to rape. Nancy Reagan said “Just say No”…. that was helpful (obviously the Contras could get their money elsewhere). Now some states are decriminalizing marijuana usage. And then there's always mixed message of drugs sold within 1,000 feet of school, punishment doubles. Is the government telling me to sell drugs 2,000 feet away because it's not as bad then.
What is the most “Hooked” drug….. one that within seconds hits pleasure centers of the brain causing cravings that highly addictive. Widely distributed and readily available, Nicotine
Remember the only difference between a drug and a poison…. is dosage. Think about it

Peer pressure plays an extremely important role on teenagers. Its all about being liked and accepted even if it means they have to hurt their bodies by doing drugs. I think they need to talk more in school about how important it is to not get sucked in by peer pressure. I found out when I was a teenager that I am far too important to do drugs and I dont care what people think of me. Peer pressure in teenagers causes a lot of problems and thats why they grow up and are hooked on drugs and cant quit. If they would have only said no in the first place then they would have better 100% better off and more successful in life.

I was hooked on meth for about 6 and a half years starting when I was 18 and been clean for about 28 weeks now. I started because my best freind and my ex boyfreind did them and had some and I just wanted to know what was so good.Once I tired I couldn't stop I loved the way I felt when I was on a high and it made me forget about the pain in my life and all my problems.I smoked some everyday allday at work at home everywhere and anywhere. I regret useing but at the same time I miss the feeling and the high and given the oppertunity I would probably use again.

"Why do teens take drugs?
There are many reasons teens might choose to use drugs. For some young people, using drugs makes them feel grown up. Or they think drugs will help them fit in and belong to a group. Some teens use drugs to relax and feel good, or to have more fun at a party or club. Others use drugs as a way to take risks and rebel. Some teens try drugs because they are curious. The bad news is that, in every case, using drugs is the worst way to do all of these things.
The good news is that there are many more positive and healthy ways to feel grown up, be part of a group, relax and feel good, take risks, and satisfy curiosity. If you are looking for a challenge, try activities like rock climbing, hiking, or skiing. Join a club or sports team at school if you want to make friends and learn something new. You can even start your own club! Going out to a movie or shopping with friends are great ways to relax and have fun. You can probably think of many more great things that don’t involve using drugs! well they get hooked on them from trying them, and they try them because of peer pressure, and the people imposing the pressure do them because of how stressful life is as a high school student. the board of education is every city is out of control with work and there is no time for just being yourself anymore. homework is 5-6 hours a night-a schools wonder why kids fall asleep in class! its absurd. kids have no where else to turn for pleasure but drugs. drugs are hyped up in the media and thats the only option.

Teens maybe hooked themselves on drugs due to so many reasons. Allow me to state a few. First...due to lack of parental guidance and care...due to curiousity...due to the influence of the group or friends they belong. In short due to his environment both in and out of home .

It's easier for them with stress, pressure, the feeling of not being good enough, and it feels like a free getaway from the hardships of life.
It's not like they're stupid or "undeveloped" or any of that crap. It's just easier to get hooked at a younger age. Yet, it's easier to quit, which is good.
