Whatever you do, do NOT let him go in the wild. Doing so would not only be stressful for the shark but could also do serious damage to your local ecosystems. I would call up some local pet stores and see if any of them will buy it from you. If you do have to kill it, putting it in the freezer is the most humane way. Next time be sure to research the fish (especially max. size) before you buy it. A good pet shop would have educated you when you bought it how big it would get.

Are you for real? people like you make my blood boil. You're going to kill an innocent animal are you for the sake of not having some common sense and finding out about how big they grow. Sharks shouldn't be in tanks in the first place and you should be banned from owning pets. Take it back to the shop where you brought it from and then you and your mate can find a giant freezer and shut yourselves in it!!!

Regarding "liberating" it in a local pond. The local children need not fear. It will die pretty soon :(
The freezer and the toilet are cruel ways to kill any animal(even a fish).
Why not take a free advert in your local paper - "free to a good home". You will probably be surprised by the interest generated.

One of my friends had the same problem, except, it involved a huge pleco.
This is what he did. Call a local zoo or aquarium and ask them if you can donate the shark to them.
If they say no, another option is to build a pond in your backyard and put the fish in there.

Putting a fish in a tank does kill it, but supposedly it can feel ice crystals forming in its body. Call any zoos, call sanctuaries, call local colleges or univerities that specialise in animals, call a vet, and if all else fails call a responsible pet shop as a last resort.

This depends on which species of shark you are keeping, if they are happy to live with other sharks, and especially if they are legal and able to be kept as pets.

A fish can not grow too big for a talk. Growth stops if the tank is too small. Stop trying to have us on.

Invite all your friends to have a delicious dinner: first dish, shark soup. You will impress them. And during the first toast promise them that you are always going to buy a pet after thinking how much space it needs and how much food it has per day.

You xan place an ad in the classified part of the newspaper. Or there might be an exotic fish store where they may be interested in buying it from you.
