Do you really think your pet knows that kissing it is a show of love? My dogs like an enthusiastic scratching behind the ears. They just zone out while I am doing this. Do you know the nasty things they put in their mouths and put their mouths into?

Yes. I give mine a kiss on top of the head. They prefer to kiss me on the lips, but I try to discourage that. I only allow the smoochy thing in front of my family because some other people are offended or uncomfortable. Before anyone critisizes me on that.... It's just a show of manners to be considerate of others.

For me its affectionate but usualy give a quick kiss somewhere other than the mouth becuase that tounge and those jowels have been places my face would never get close too lol

For the dog is usualy a biological thing..a part of their nature such as mothers regurgitating food.

Psht. I kiss my pets all the time because I love them to death. I guess it depends on your own personal feelings. I mean I think it's kinda gross to kiss them right on the mouth, but other than that it's cute.

I think kissing pets is gross, but I love them so I let them kiss me anyway!

Kissing, in general, is both, considering that mouths are often the dirtiest part of any animal!

i think it is a show of love. though i would hesitate to kiss a pet scorpion or a tarantula. not even the sweet, docile millipede.

It's a definite show of love, but I always try to make sure my kids dogs don't lick near our mouths.
