Is it possible for me to find an apartment (one room in 2 bedroom) in a safe Manhattan area for around $1000? If yes, which areas should I look for, especially since my work is in Upper East Side Area. I would like to live in that area, but am unsure if it is a good place to live in, and if I can afford it. Any guidance would be appreciated.

You want an apartment in Manhattan that isn't a studio, and you want your rent less than $1000/month?

You're going to need roommates.

Upper East Side is very nice. Very nice = not cheap.
You'll be lucky to find a studio for under $1000/mo in the Upper East Side. Finding roommates might be the better option.
