I studied Islam off and on before 9/11 and the events of 9/11 and since have had no effect on my perception of it. I don't understand such stereotypes given the fact that one can find radical people in every religion. Such bias and hatred is obviously caused by media hype and too many people looking at the world in black and white.

I knew of many Muslims in the USA prior to 9/11 but I was not aware of their hatred for us until I saw it on the news after 9/11 when they televised many people of Muslim nations cheering about the attack.

I knew about the existence of Islam since I was 11 years old. I was 17 when 9/11 happened. Those who suddenly took out their anger on Muslims (or those that "look like them) are idiots who are just looking for excuses. It's the radicals that are giving Islam a bad name. Even Christianity has its share of dark history, like the Crusades.

im 45 and when i was 20 i took an intelligence test that asked if i knew what the quoran was. i said it was the muslim vesrion of the bible. i was right. people dont hate all muslims. they hate what the radical fundamentists do. they are cowards. and since 9/11 we have become more aware of how they act and quite frankly i think it scares the piss out of people that a terrorist cell may be next door planning to set offa car bomb at town hall. you think the event was tragic, osama bin laden praised the people who did it

I knew of Muslims but before 9/11 I never knew they could be so full of hate. I always thought Muslims were quiet and reserved and very peaceful.

I always new what a Muslim was, I must admit I was angered at the terrorists that killed so many people, unfortunately so many Innocent people have died over the last 2000 years because of religion, and I mean all religions, I don't give any credence to religions that have murdered Innocent people, I believe in God and only God, I belong to no religion and I never will, I believe God will punish all people that supports religions that have murdered the Innocent lives of his flock. I pray daily that in his wrath he will have mercy on them. May God Bless you, Jack.

I am very sorry. It is horrible that people in this country behave the way they do. You don't deserve any more hatred than others in this nation. Those who are doing the hating are the ones who deserve it. But of course those of us who would be hating them know that it doesn't do any good to hate. It is interesting how those who seem to need the lesson least are the ones who learn it thoroughly from every angle, while those who need it most can only see their own views.

I did - and I work with quite a few. I know I felt really bad for them because of the discrimination and ridicule they experienced after 9/11. When will we learn that we can't lump all of any nation/religion/race into one category. We're all individuals.

I knew what one was, but it was only a few years earlier when some have started moving to my area (Seattle). I thought nothing of it. Some of them were nice to me and some of them were surly and rude, no different from the rest of humanity that I was familiar with before.
