Try with a normal Data CD first(not a CDR). A pressed CD is much more accurate than a CDR and will be easier for the drive to read (most of the time). If it does read then you may wish to try and clean the dive using a CD/DVD cleaner. You may be lucky. if it doesn't read you may want to check those cables again and then use the cleaner but you are unlikely to have much luck if it's not a silly thing with the cables. Dont bother trying to get it fixed or generally fiddling about just get another from any one of the millions of Retail outlets such as Dabs and Aria ..etctec

Ive been repairing comps for 20 years and CD drives are too awkward and too cheap to fiddle with ...John

Go to "My Computer" icon and right tic, select "Manage" in the left pane select "Device Manager". Tic on DVD/CD Drives in the right pane, and right tic on the Phillips drive, select "Uninstall" and then reboot the computer. This reloads the drivers.

Did it used to work before or is this a new drive? Try reinstalling drivers. If its been used for a few years, its time may be over, I'm am sorry. I give you my deepest sympathy.

verify on the producer internet site in the event that they have an improve firmware that might help DVD-R. If not and your burner dont help burning DVD-R in any respect there is not plenty you're able to do yet purchase yet another one. in the present day in general DVD burner comes relatively affordable.
