A) Draft not needed. Takes too long, Is more problematic than positive. Military does not want it at all!!!
b) Iran ? Not invading anybody. We have been in the region for 50 years. We will continue to build up Iraq's forces. Chill on the Apocolypse stuff.
c) We lack the airlift or sealift to move that many if we wanted to. This is 2006 not 1944.
As for you basic consern about cutting and running? That is a reason for consern. Many don't understand. To do so would be a replay of Saigon 1975.

I think you're a fuzzy american that has been listening to Goerge Bush too long and can't see past the glorified idiocy that he's been spewing on the television for several years.
Our troops are fighting an enemy they can't see, anybody could be a terrorist. It's like way back when we had that communist war thing going on here, you can just point and say "WHOAMG TERRORIST" at them and you'd have to believe it.
Now, as for the draft it is fuzzy and must be shaved. If our President wasn't such an idiot we would of been out of there years ago and we wouldn't be arresting 5 year olds going to school with a pair of scissors because there weren't enough school supplies for everyone. It's happened here, trust me. So go back to fuzzing at your president about how shitty a job he's doing and, when you come back from being brain-washed we'll all give you a beer and it'll be okay.

You are right about 1 thing.. we need a draft.. but not just so that we have an unending of cannon fodder to fight a war for OIL... which you readily admit, is what we are doing.
No, we need a draft so that the people in power would be less likely to START these unethical and illegal wars. They would be MUCH less likely to do such things if there own children were in danger of having to go "over there" and DIE! Oh yes, they might always be able to get their kids out of harms way... look at our president, perfect example. But at least then it wouldn't just a be a poverty draft, with the armed forces going in to the poorest areas trying to recruit kids to go and kill innocent people because it might be their only change to get the out of the ghetto...
And furthermore, if there are more terrorist spawning rogue states it is because WE MADE THEM! We have now made more enemies than we had before (hard to imagine) and ourselves have outfitted and supplied various terrorist groups under the auspices that "the enemies of our enemies are our friends" this sort of mentality has never served us in the past and nor will it serve us now or in the future. We need to STOP killing and getting our own soldiers killed over oil so rich people can drive hummers... IT ISN'T WORTH IT!
So yes, WE NEED A DRAFT... but not so we can KILL more innocent people, but so that we can STOP THE KILLING altogether!

No. We do not need the draft to fight in a foreign war. We need to protect America and American lives and forget about the foreigners. Stop them from coming here. Stop all the PC nonsense or at least stop applying it to people whose very religion is defined by hatred of our country. Don't let them in the US. Close the borders. Let our troops do what they signed up for and protect OUR COUNTRY HERE. Allow healthy male and female volunteers of all ages and orientations to sign up and defend our borders, coasts, air space, etc. We don't need to do that in a foreign country. As to oil...we have so many other types of energy. With the huge amount that has been sqandered on this war we could have replaced all outdated energy sources in the country and ended our dependance on foreign oil right here. The government won't spend billions to switch over to self reliant forms of clean energy, or to end hunger, or to deport illegal criminals but they will spend billions to kill thousands of Americans and somehow convince you this is necessary. It's nonsense. It is just a bunch of oil baron politicians trying to expand over seas and using American soldiers to do it. Bring our troops home. If it was evil aliens or disease spawning, would you send troops in or would you just blast them? No nukes. Just old fashioned bombs. If that is wrong, so is the war.

Sad but true.
All the patriotic retoric is going to result in a return to the draft (among other things). The past few years the armed forces have become way more attractive professionally but that cannot continue.

Why are we turning away approximately 7 of 10 volunteers? Perhaps we need to, at least temporarily, cut some of the requirements. After all, who are we going to draft if not some of those who want to join right now.
And, I agree that we need to step up the efforts. It will not be popular with Americans because it would be violent and we have become a nation of unrealistic, politically (in)correct, save the owls mamby pambys.
This is real! And if we don't get tough, with these groups and clean out America of these groups and make some changes in our immigration policies, they will take over.
Folks, they couldn't care less about being politically correct any more than they care about some poor little owl. And they care more about these things than they do about you or me.

This question is so serious, that no jokes should be made about it!
What SS is trying to say is simply, that at the present state of our Armed Forces we do not even have enough personnel to really win a war in that tiny country of Iraq. How much less would our chances be to win a war against Iran without destroying the entire area there with nuclear bombs!
In our euphoria after the fall of the Soviet Empire we downgraded our Armed Forces to a status, so that they cannot even defend the United States any longer!
Should we really wait, until these Ayatollahs from Iran drop their nuclear bombs onto us?

I would give a detailed answer to SS but I know he's left for the recruiting station along with others from here who are in a big hurry to send someone over there to get killed.

I agree.
Every able bodied man should be deployed across the desert of the middle east in hand to hand combat.
The wealthiest and most educated get a chance to put down the flag and fight.

I agree, a draft is needed. But not just for this war. I think military or civil service should be required of all citizens. Most Americans don't know what America stands for, and have no concept of the military, or the government. If everybody had an opportunity to be a part, then they would understand. God bless Charlie Wrangle, for being a real American.
