I used to like old typewriters, and I had at one time about ten of them. I never set out to find them, but I would run into them on a fairly regular basis. All of them I found at tag sales (Yankee for yard or garage sale). Most were very cool, with nice cases, finishes and such. They are very cheap at tag sales and haggling always brings a good result. You may have to buy a ribbon or something like that. I never spent $600 on any of them. In fact, I am not likely to have spent more than $10 or $15 one one as I am wicked cheap. Flea markets may also be a good place to try, but the merchants are usually more aware of the value of such things, so expect to pay more. If you get one that doesn't work but you like it for its visual appeal, take my advice: DON'T TAKE IT APART! They are an absolute nightmare to fix. I only did it once, and while I was ultimately able to make the repairs, I drove myself mad trying. And I am a repair man! Happy hunting.

You talking like the old old, 1950's kind? I keep an eye out and if I find one I will let you know.
