my son is going to belfast from glasgow on easy jet but has not got a passport can he use his proof it card as id got his photo and his dob on it. i try phoning easy jet but just got put on hold

For airport security, you must have a government issued ID of some kind. If you don't have a passport or driver's license, then you need to get a legal ID card. This is available at the DMV; it looks just like a driver's license, but it's for those who don't drive. And if you're travelling internationally without a passport, then you need to bring your birth certificate, too.

MAKE SURE to keep calling until you get a live operator to ask the question to -- it is most likely that you are going to have to get a passport to put a minor (I am assuming this is the case) on an Airline, and ... if the rules are like here in the US -- you are going to have to have the permission of BOTH you and the father to obtain the passport in the first place.

Still within the UK, photographic id is all that is required, but best to check with relevant airline
