Yes, SOME believe that, and they can keep on believing it. But if they are basing it on the Mayan Long Count Calendar ending on 12-21-2012, they are basing it on a misunderstanding. The calendar doesn't end. The 12th Baktun ends. That's like our calendar going from 1999 to 2000. The world didn't end then either, so the crazy people found another date to spread fear about-12-21-2012.

This is information is based off a Mayan calendar (that is the year the calendar stops). I do not know why or how the Mayans came to the conlusion that this is when the earth would end. I do not take it that seriously. Everyone thought the world would end in 2000 or when the planets last all aligned up. Fact is, there is no knowing when the earth will end. And im seeing way too many questions about this date on here.

Here's the deal. Nobody knows the actual time or date that the world will end. I also saw that program on the History Channel about six months ago. Nostradomas predicted that the world would end in 1999, but did that ever happen? I am a Christian myself. I believe that the world will end when God wants it to end. The Mayan Calendar is not really all that accurate anyways even though the scientists say that it is.

It's like the equivalent of '31st December 3000, 23:59:59:99'.
Of course, another millenium will start.
However, it shoud be noted that the IRS start taking filings in '1st January 2007, 00:00:00'.
So in 22nd December 2012, someone might do different things.
Or maybe it's like Hong Kong in '31st June 1997'.

Actually, the world will end January 19, 2038, at 3:14:08 UT. That's when all the computer system clocks roll over.

People have been predicting the end of the world for years. But no one's been right so far. We'll find out in 2012, I suppose. But I doubt it.

There's more chance that an asteroid called VD17 will impact Earth that year. That fact has nothing to do with Mayan myths based on nothing more substantial than primitive superstition.

Simply because a calendar runs out of dates doesn't mean the world's ending. I'll believe it when I see it.
