you are trying to look for a word that you have not idea what i means in the dictionary and when you find it and look at the defenition, there are other words that you dont know that explain the word you were trying to figure out in the first place.

No, that doesn’t upset me. In fact that is part of the enjoyment of looking up words, that is, finding other words to learn. Just looking up the meaning of a word is really not enough. Discovering the word usage history and the root origin adds depth and power to words and how they are used. Etymology is the icing on the cake of language.

This is the foundation of sentence syntax and learning the parsing of sentences (based on correct word understanding) leads to greater enjoyment of the language.

Yes, I know what you mean. But it should just inspire you to keep looking and learning. Sometimes, looking up one word in the dictionary can lead to looking up many more. One word leads to another, then another, etc. It's hard to put it down sometimes.

In all languages that I know; there are a lot of words for certain word. The meaning may contradict with other detention too.

i hate when that happens! i usually start to burn the dictionary after that. webster is just too smart for us! lol

Doesn't help if you don't know what the words "vengeance" or "vindictive" mean....does it?
