Yes. But you will not get a job with a major studio. Do your own projects or find local people who are interested in film and buy a camera. I have a Canon XL2 and that's what I do.

OK I am going to answer this question again but differently. I am a professional photographer and I have a couple college classes but no degree. I also make very good money at what I do in this career field. So besides the fact that only a few jobs require a college degree... and a college will tell you that you will never get anywhere in life with-out a degree. Reason .. no students, no money coming in to college... NO rich Dean. So if a image is posted on a website can you tell if a person: 1. Is a "Pro" ? 2. Has a college degree? 3. How old is that photographer? Are they 7 or 70 years old? There are different photographers in the world there are the ones that it's a 9-5 job shooting "portraits" at (K-mart, Walmart etc), then there are the photographers that treat photography with a passion. To them it is not just a 9-5 job, to them it is more like 24/7. In other words when you are not doing photography as "your real job" you are still doing something in photography. This could be getting ready to do some body's wedding, a model portfolio, testing your studio equipment lighting or getting up at 2 in the morning driving 200 miles (alone because others think you are crazy) climbing up a mountain to get some great shots of the sunrise and then driving back home. That person will be reading a photography book, the camera manual, a blog, manufactures website to see new equipment, working on a website and adding new photos.. or they will be teaching somebody else photography in person or trying to explain it the best they can on a place like this (yahoo answers). So what type of photographer are you.. and what type do you want to be? I hope this answers some of your questions, you can also look up one of my previous "answers" to this question on my profile page. Good luck, Kevin
