I have this problem where when I get around a lot of people and I am nervous or I have my stomach sucked in I will release gas without knowing and stick up the whole room with the smell of eggs. I know its me but I dont feel it coming out but it has happened a lot and it forced me to drop out of high school because I would get made fun of. Does anyone know what this could possibly be caused by? I have gone to the doctor about it and she didnt have any idea what would be causing it. Do I have to go to a special kind of doctor? The problem seems worse when I wear maxi pads.....Anyone know what this could be?

A few years later I went back to school because I thought my problem was over because it hadnt happened in a while and to my surprise it was a repeat thing happening all over again. I became overwhelmingly depressed and couldnt figure out what was causing this. I didnt even eat anything before I went to school so its not caused by food I dont think.

it could possibly be IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) which may be aggravated by stress.
Consider talking to a natural type doctor (like naturopath) to make some needed changes to your diet (and serious changes-but don't worry, it may be worth it!). That should help with your bowel problems. My sister AND brother both have IBS and this sounds very similar. You may have to go on a cleanse, start eating non-gluten foods, organic, lots of fresh greens, whole grains, fruits, etc, and cut out all the fake colors and flavors-anything unnatural. Also, dairy is sometimes hard on adults' stomachs, so if you drink milk, try a milk that is easier for humans to digest such as goats milk. you will get used to the taste.
The stress could be from being around people and can even be subconcious.
As for the maxi-pad thing, my ex gf had lots of gas during her period, so I think that's normal. It just shouldn't be as bad as it is right now because of your aggravated bowels.
You really aren't that alone with this problem, yours probably seems so out of control to you though because it gets worse in a classroom situation and you find it harder to control when it's crucial to you. I know many people with this problem that seem normal when in public.. but when they hit the bathrooms at home.,, well, you know.
Good luck, and go get that diploma!

It probably has to do with the food you eat the day before, not necessarily on that day.
Sounds like you have a nervous bowel (that's just what I call it, I've no idea if there is a real term for it). I get something similar, but it manifests itself differently. If I were you, I'd first look into changing my diet by finding out what foods are more likely to cause gas and eliminating them. Next I'd talk to my doctor to see if there's some physical problem, or to see if there's a medication that can help relieve the anxiety you feel.

Lynda my love - don't go to the doctors and have a discreet confidential discussion whereby the end result will be a full diagnosis with effective medical treatment - far less embarrassing to share this graphic image with millions of strangers. Before I make any uneducated guess work (as I assure you everyone else will as most trained GP's do not hang around pathetic advice sites like this) I need to know more particulars - are you over weight, do you attend pool parties throw by Michael Barrymore or do you watch a lot of Noel Edmunds? Go see a quack - top answer!

Well, maybe you should try another doctor and get advice from that doctor because the problem could be serious. And also you might want to take speech classes and rejoin Highschool since education is a very serious matter. Without education a good future in the US is impossible! Pay a visit to another doctor and enroll for classes again is my advice

Don't suck your stomach in, there's no where for the gas to go but out!
I find it hard to believe that a doctor didn't have any idea what it was, I think that doctor is incompetent, go see a real doctor.
There are certain foods that obviously don't agree with you, make a note of what you eat.

It's possible that you may have irritable bowl syndrom, I would go back to the doctor and ask her if she could recomand anything, any specialist. It's possible that you may need to see a urologist. Hope this helps. Also if ppl make fun of you, just laugh along, remember, everyone farts. Nothing out of the ordinary. I farted this morning in bed and I even had to get out ... (well my bf pushed me out) heheh. Hope this helps!!

It is caused by what you eat. You need to slow down in eating eggs, beans, meat, and other products with protein. Or it could mean that you are not drinking enough water.

Can you try to figure out what food or foods is doing this to you? When you do it the most, what have you just eaten? That should help you find out the foods that don't agree with you. Then avoid those foods.

You can find a product called Beano at many stores, which purports to address this problem. I have no idea whether it works, but it is cheap enough to try as an experiment.

You probably got irritable bowel syndrome from anxiety, that can be from nervousness. See any doctor, i think thatmight be the problem.
