That Joint of Lamb bought for 3shillings and sixpence in 1963 would depend on if it was a whole Leg or Whole Shoulder of Lamb or Half Joints.
A Whole leg today would probably be £7.50 to £11.
A whole Shoulder about £ 5.50 to £7 and half of the price for half joints, but it would also depend on where they were bought.
A Supermarket would probably be a lot Cheaper than in a Butchers, that's if you could find a Family Butchers Shop these Day's.

I can tell you that in 1963 I bought my first joint of lamb as a married woman for three shillings and six pence (3s 6d) which is seventeen and a half pence in todays money!

Work out the inflation on that one;-)

in answer to ynnetc below:
Joint of lamb = whole leg of lamb, purchased from a family butcher's shop... all butcher's in my day were separate businesses... the supermarket concept was in its infancy!
