Look up the Shakers, a religious sect that lived communally during the 19th C.
Also, any type of early farming community during the stone age. These people lived in small villages, working together to farm the land, harvest the crops, and take care of their cattle. In addition, each village had people who specialized in certain tasks- medicine, religious rites, weaving, leather tanning, etc.
