Some women have temporary fluid retention during the first month or so after starting the Pill. Some women gain weight as a side effect of estrogen use. This weight gain develops in the hips, thighs, and breasts.

Sometimes weight gain can be managed by changing to a different pill. If not, caloric reduction and increased exercise may be required. The pill is a very safe, effective means of birth control. Side effects such as weight gain are usually manageable while on the pill.

Most types of birth control pills cause you to retain water, about 5 lbs or so. If you are binging, then you need to try to find things to binge on that are healthy for you to help maintain your weight. I was on the pill for 17 yrs, and gained about 5 lbs a year from water weight, this is pretty normal. When you stop taking the pill, after about 3 months you wil start to lose the water weight.

I don't take birth control pills for that exact reason. The pill has different results for different people but one of the warned side effects is weight gain. It has to do with the hormones that help to regulate your body, they make some people gain weight. Also, it depends on the brand of birth control. Despite the results in people, almost all of the studies done to prove or disprove weight gain have shown no effect for people. So, it's just your body. Personally, I know a lot of people who gain weight, and a lot of people who can't take it because it ends up not helping them at all.

I gained a little weight (maybe 5 pounds) when I first went on the pill (but I needed it!). I recently went off the pill, and I lost 8 pounds. I blame the pills. I've known other women who have noticed the same thing.

Its kind of funny in a way because some friends have gained while some stayed their weight or even lost a few pounds. I really think it depends on the pill you take. about 6 years ago i took the pill and i was gaining weight. I simply just cut back on fast food and sweets and exercised and my weight went back down

not likely, yet getting pregnant is specific to make you fatter than the pill ever ought to :) I definitely have been on the pill for over 5 years and that i weigh 105lbs. that's skinny to typical. I definitely have been on many manufacturers of pill and might surely say no realy substantial fat comes from the pill.

Hi,
I've tried all different diets, and the weight loss is only temporary. I finally tried diet pills on the market are made from Hoodia. I saw this stuff on ABC News. It's all natural and safe, and it works! My wife took it for a month and dropped 20 pounds. I took it for a month and lost about 13 (but I didn't exercise).

I bought the natural hoodia from this website: http://www.alllsite.info/free-diet-pills.php . I checked the web site address so I can post it here and I saw they're running a promotion now to get a free 2 week sample for only $4.97! I'm going to order this supply for my wife and give it to her for Christmas =)

i also gained weight, i'm also on the pill but they say it's not because of the pill, it's because of our food intake...blah blah blah, but i think it's maybe because of the hormones in the pill that makes our body "think" that we are pregnant so that we will not conceive. and mostly pregnant people gain weight(aside from the baby's weight ofcourse), do they?

it is false that bc makes you gain weight. it is true that it makes you a little more hungry. its mind over matter. try eating small meals throughout the day. like 6 small meals. it will make you feel like your full. the wrong thing to do is eat all at once till your stuffed. find out when your full and stop. drink water. stay away from soda
