First of all, remember that we ourselves, are animals.
So yes, animals (in some form, either us or the uncivilized type) obviously reign supreme.
Now, a deeper perspective. We have become more reliant on provided goods and services to take care of our needs. We, of the course of millenia, have developed these to ease our existence, to mkae things easier for us.
I say thank you to my opposable thumbs daily for this.
Because of our reliance on said goods, we have no need to rely on baser "gut" instincts that are necessary for the "lower" animals that populate our world. The basics of evolution, boiled down to a Barney level, is "use it our lose it"
We have lost a lot of instinct that other animals rely on to survive. We can go to a store and buy goods. A lower animal must survive on incstinct alone, unless it has been domesticated in some way. When we domesticate an animal, we in effect, are taking away instincts of said animals with each passing generation.
But with our advanced technology, thinking, and craftmanship, mankind as an animal has become more evil than every other type. No other animal type that has ever had a serial killer. No other animal type has developed weapons that could destroy all of civilization. No other animal type is readily destoying and polluting the planet at the rate that we can.
So, I pose the question to you. Are we actually animals, or a plague?

You talk about instincts. Is having a set mind and knowing only certain actions when born the best thing? Humans are the animals that can learn new things every day. They aren't all nest builders or plant finders. They can be anything.

No they arent, most pets are nutured, there are rows of meat in the supermarket (saying this will get me bad marks but let he who hasnt eaten meat throw the first sausage).
Animals generally cant operate guns or computers which is probably a good thing for us.
I reckon that if aliens ever landed here, if they were anything like us, they would probably see the planet as a great big larder of human steaks.

Domesticated animals? They do have it made. The animals within the wilderness of South Africa? Well, may the antelope rest in peace! If you side with, and befriend the most powerful species on the planet (humans), then you will have it all their glory. If you dont, then you'd better stay out of their way.

I think the Egyptians had it right. Cats are supreme. I love mine. I admire them. Beautiful, graceful, always land on their feet. I am their willing slave!
:)
Animals are cute. Got to love them. They definitely are in tune with their instincts. Of course, we have the power of thought so I think we still come out on top...

I wouldn't say they're supreme, but they're definitely a lot more intelligent then humans give them credit for. And for the record, a human is a type of animal as well, we just get disgusted and shocked when people admit it.

The instincts you have , are the result of a million years of evolution be thankful for them they pulled you out of the mire , of which animals still live in . unless of course you would like someone to decide your every move you make for you , and feed you any muck that they think that you will like

Certainly animals are supreme cos they have been around a lot longer than the human race, they treat us with respect but what do we do to them ?

bear, Opossum, Deere (with a farmer on it perhaps yet no longer deer), Raccoon, Mountain Lion, Coyote, Wild Hogs, Javelina (What?), Alligator(ok), Cape Buffalo (only the place do you reside?), Bobcat(particular why no longer), Cougar (i presumed this turn into an identical element as a mountain lion), Panther (returned the place do you reside?), Ants (maximum probable)

It's because we have developed so much that we are not as much in touch with our natural instincts anymore, unlike animals.
