Yes, it's a remake. The song was first recorded by "Vertical Horizon". They had a few songs on the radio a few years ago, the biggest of which was "Everything You Want."

Yeah it is a remake. He covered this song as a tribute to his wife after she committed suicide. The first time he debuted it was when he opened at the Brooks and Dunn concert. Beautiful song, so sad when you know the story behind it.
