If I understand you, the exponents are 3x+4, x, and 12, all to base 8. In multiplying the left hand side, add the exponents:
(8 to the 3x+4) times 8 to the x equals 8 to the (3x plus 4 plus x).
So, 8 to the 4x plus 4 equals 8 to the 12.
4x plus 4 equals 12
x equals 2

8^3x+4*8^x=8^12
factor out and 8^x
8^x(8^2x + 4) = 8^12

8^x = 8^12
x = 12

Your equation is just plain bad since it contains +^. This is an invalid and unintelligible input. Write a true equation if you expect an answer.
