it depends...
when i was in labor with my daughter (my first child) the contractions were about 3-5 minutes apart, and i was in labor with her for 15 hours. which this is normal and more common if this is your first child.. im assuming that it is..
when i was in labor with my son (my second child) i had a really sharp pain, and then about 10 minutes later i was having contractions, and they were steady and fast and very painful. each contraction was about 1 minute or less apart, i was in labor with him about 1 hour 45 minutes. it was so fast but it hurt like hell, because i didn't get a break between contracting like i did with my daughter.

I believe real contractions will last about 60 sec when they first start.

When I first noticed my real contractions they were about 60 seconds long.

Sorry I can't say how long they were before I started to notice them.

sbout 8 minutes just starting, but very consistant... then down about 30 minutes later every 5, then 3, then you need to be AT THE HOSPITAL. and about 2.. then during labor about every 30 seconds..
