I'm having a Christmas party and I was going to mix about 30 CD's of my favorite Christmas songs and give them to the guests and my mother was like, "Is that legal?". So I was wondering... I got them off of iTunes if that makes a difference.

as long as you payed for the songs whether it be from a subscription or per song then it is totally legal.

Actually it is illegal. I used to work for a record label in Los Angeles. You can't distribute music. Sure, you bought it and own it, but the people that you plan on giving the Cd's to didn't. Most people will tell you that if you own the music you can do what ever you want with it, but really you don't own the rights to it. Therefore you don't own the right to distribute the music. I hope this helps. Also, reading the small print on a CD or Web site will tell you the same thing.

Yes and I'm not sure either. I was planning to do the EXACT thing for a birthday party favor for all my friends. My dad says its illegal mixing/burning CD or ONLINE copyrighted music.

Music from Limewire;iTunes;Kazza;etc has music you cannot mix/burn music.

You can get caught and pay a fine for this action.

I think iTunes has a 7 CD limit for burning music from their store that you purchased. The music you buy is for your personal use.

Yes that is illegal but who's gonna know anyway? Even though you purchased the music from Itunes The music is not yours! You paid for the personal use of the music not for the right to distribute it as you please

Generally speaking, one is not allowed to take the "value" of a song without permission, and sometimes that value is found even in a three-second clip. When in doubt, it is always wise to check with the copyright owner, because in many cases even a small clip of a song may not be "fair use." Please refer to the link below as may people misunderstand the entirety of this issue.

They gave one to each couple alongside with a bookmark that had their wedding ceremony data on it and something else that became into irish...it became into an irish wedding ceremony. i think of you would be ok doing this...did you invite all of us who's a real stickler for the regulation and might desire to dislike you?
